PSA Further Suspension

Dear Promoters,

During this challenge that Covid-19 continues to present globally, PSA’s most important consideration is that of the health of our players, tournament promoters, and the public, and we must act responsibly to protect this. Given this, we feel we have to make the difficult but necessary decision to suspend the PSA Tour for a further two months, taking us to the end of June 2020. The suspension will apply to all PSA sanctioned tournaments, including the WSF & PSA Satellite Tour.

To mitigate against potential further disruption should the tour suspension be extended beyond June, any new or rescheduled tournaments will be advised to register from 01 August 2020 and will not be permitted to register or reschedule for July 2020. A decision will be taken in due course regarding the status of existing WSF & Satellite Tour tournaments and the two existing PSA Challenger Tour events currently registered in July.

For those tournaments that have been affected and postponed, your designated office team member will have been in touch already to explain the situation. If you have any questions or potential new dates, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Otherwise, we will be in touch as soon as we have some further clarity regarding the tour officially restarting so that we can reschedule you accordingly.

We understand what a difficult time this must be for everyone, and thank you all for your continued understanding, patience and support. Times are tough for everyone and we have been amazed at how the squash community continues to rally together (pun intended), so thank you continuing to play a huge role in our sport both now and in future when we can get back on track.

We also wanted to share some of the things we are doing for players in case anyone had anything they wanted to contribute or any ideas to help during this tough time. Similarly, if there’s anything we can do to support promoters, please let us know:

  • Signposting players to government funding options (this will be posted on the bulletin board shortly) – any guidance from your country if you have it would be helpful, especially from federations
  • ‘Monday motivation’ email with ideas to use time productively, including access to free online courses, tips for looking after mental and physical health and more (via the Foundation)
  • Access to the Sporting Chance mental health helpline (via the Foundation)
  • Regular updates and communication relating to the future of the tour

We hope you and your loved ones are all staying safe and healthy, and please remember that we are here for any questions you might have; do not hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,

Hannah Ridgard-Mason | Tour Director
